GreenYellow, an international leader in decentralized energy transition, and Meaders Feeds Ltd, a historic player in the Mauritian agri-food sector, are once again joining forces to develop a 1.8 MWp solar power plant. This project is part of the Carbon Neutral Industrial Sector (CNIS) Scheme, a national program aimed at supporting the decarbonization of the local industry.

PHOTOVOLTAÏC PLANT THAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE DECARBONIZATION OF THE NATIONAL ENERGY MIX AND STRENGTHENS MEADERS' COMPETITIVENESS

Partners since 2023, GreenYellow and Meaders Feeds Ltd jointly launched their first rooftop photovoltaic power project with a capacity of 450 kWc, designed for grid injection under a 20-year PPA, which is currently under construction.

This new 1.8 MWp solar plant follows the same model, with production that will also be fully injected into the national grid.
Thanks to this new installation, Meaders will locally generate an amount of electricity equivalent to 100% of its annual consumption, thus making a significant contribution to achieving Mauritius' renewable energy targets.

Moreover, this new solar project enhances Meaders' competitiveness by securing a supply of renewable energy at a controlled long-term cost — a key factor in an evolving industrial landscape.

The plant will generate over 2.9 GWh of green electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of more than 700 Mauritian households, and will help avoid over 2,100 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

"Producing better, in a cleaner and more sustainable way: that’s the direction we’ve set at Meaders. This new partnership with GreenYellow marks a major step toward a greener industry, and we are proud to contribute to Mauritius’ energy goals," said Iqbal Mohungoo, Managing Director — Meaders Feeds Ltd

A PARTNERSHIP EMBODYING INDUSTRIAL ENERGY TRANSITION IN MAURITIUS

By relying on the expertise of GreenYellow Austral, Meaders reaffirms its pioneering role in adopting a low-carbon energy production model, aligned with the sustainability goals of the Mauritian government.

This new project illustrates the relevance of the PPA model within the CNIS framework, with GreenYellow fully financing the investment, enabling the deployment of efficient and sustainable solar installations that support the country's energy transition.

"We are very pleased to support Meaders once again in its shift toward green energy. This project perfectly reflects our commitment to providing the Mauritian industry with high-performing, sustainable solar solutions tailored to the real needs of economic stakeholders," added Benoit Regnard, General Manager of GreenYellow Austral

A REGIONAL DYNAMIC DRIVEN BY GREENYELLOW AUSTRAL

This new solar project is fully aligned with GreenYellow Austral's regional strategy, which encompasses the company’s operations in the Indian Ocean and South Africa. In Mauritius, GreenYellow already has over 50 MWp in operation or under construction, with an estimated annual production of 75 GWh.

In the region, additional projects are underway in Réunion, Mayotte, and South Africa, with nearly 50 MWp of added capacity. Thus, GreenYellow Austral aims to actively contribute to the government’s objective of reaching 60% renewable energy in the energy mix.
