PureVPN unveils WireGuard and Proxy Support on multiple platforms for faster speeds, more stability
Get more done with speed, reliability and stability benefits offered by the WireGuard protocol and HTTPS Proxy, now available on PureVPN apps across major platforms.
The new updates are targeted towards users who want both speed and security, and those who want even better speeds but aren’t too concerned about security.
WireGuard for improved speed and security
WireGuard was launched on PureVPN’s Windows and Android apps last year, and is now available in the updated apps for Mac and iOS devices.
Additionally, the updates also include manual configuration support for WireGuard.
“Our manual configuration for WireGuard is for privacy-conscious users who prefer using the official WireGuard client plus, for users who wish to use the protocol on platforms where we currently don’t have dedicated apps, for example routers,” said Arqam Gadit, Head of Product at PureVPN.
WireGuard delivers an extra layer of security for highly impenetrable and reliable connections, with less than a 10% dip in speed observed in tests.
Proxy support on more apps
While PureVPN had originally launched HTTPS Proxy for the Google Chrome browser as an extension, the company is now offering Proxy on the Android family of devices including smart TVs and ChromeOS. In addition to this, Proxy is also available on the Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Brave browsers.
The VPN company said that it put a lot of thought into launching HTTPS Proxy outside browser extensions. “We launched Proxy support in mobile and TV apps because of user demands and ratings. Though it is a well-known fact that HTTPS Proxy doesn’t offer any additional security, we saw its usage kept on increasing and so did its rating and user satisfaction. To solve this mystery, we reached out to our users and we learned that there are lots of users and scenarios where people are already on a secure network and are just looking for a quick and fast way to get around some geo-restrictions, which is why we have included it in our mobile and TV apps”
HTTPS Proxy is the fastest possible option for users who are simply looking for the fastest possible way to access geo-blocked content from an already secure network, their homes for example.
“Proxy is ONLY recommended when users are already on a secure network and just need an IP for a different region with better speed than other protocols,” said Gadit. A good example is when an expat is looking to watch TV from their home country in a country with restricted access.
By integrating major internet security protocols across major apps, PureVPN is ushering in a platform-agnostic approach to user security. The British Virgin Islands-based company continues to pave the way forward for the industry, after pioneering the No-Log Certification policy from a leading audit firm.
PureVPN has been consistently working on major improvements in speed and overall user experience after the upgradation of its server network in order to continue its legacy on providing service based on user needs.
