Manchester, NH – May 19, 2022 – Marmon Aerospace & Defense, a Marmon | Berkshire Hathaway company, historically recognized for its breadth of Mil-Spec product approvals for Aerospace & Shipboard applications is becoming recognized as the Defense market’s preferred partner on vehicular & dismounted soldier applications. The Defense-Link® Family of Ruggedized Data products carries on the custom cable legacy of Cable USA following its 2021 merger with the Naples, FL located sister facility.
Defense-Link® ruggedized designs ranging from USB 3.1 to Category 6a cable were found across the showroom floor of The Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) in Tampa, Florida this week. Marmon A&D’s ruggedized data products are found on Push-To-Talk (PTT) systems, Heads-up Display (HUDs) units, and numerous other situational awareness platforms that allow voice, data, and GPS information to move seamlessly across all levels of the battlefield.
“Defense-Link® is our way of bringing the commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) data cabling technology, that we as consumers use daily, to the dismounted soldier system(s). However, there are very specific design differences between a COTS and Defense-Link® data cable, and those differences drastically increase the reliability and survivability of our products in combat conditions,” said Jeremy Shaffer, Marmon Aerospace & Defense Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
The integrators and end-users of Defense-Link® cabling have a lot to say too. “Marmon A&D has always supported Six15’s engineering team with innovative cable constructions that exceed requirements, and they follow that work with excellent manufacturing and customer support,” said Matthew Voss, Six15 Technologies Director, Product Line Management. “They are a trusted resource that continually delivers.” A Defense-Link® cable, specifically designed for Six15, supports the Tac-Eye 2.0™ display system that shows images from computers, IR imagers, camera systems, thermal weapon sights, or any other video source.
