Framatome has announced the acquisition of Velan SAS from Canadian company Velan Inc. The newly acquired company has been renamed Valserve and has a new visual identity. Valserve is specialized in the design, manufacture and maintenance of nuclear valves for civil and military reactors and low-temperature cryogenics.
“We are both delighted and proud to welcome Valserve to Framatome. This acquisition, along with the recent integration of Vanatome and the acquisition of Segault SAS, is in line with our growth strategy and will strengthen our supply chain for our customers,” said Bernard Fontana, CEO of Framatome. “By incorporating these key competencies, we are bolstering our industrial sovereignty and our capacity to address the critical needs of our sectors of activity.”
Valserve was created in 1974 and is based in Lyon, France. Valserve valves equip more than 350 nuclear reactors globally and numerous other installations in the energy sector.
This acquisition is in line with two recent acquisitions by Framatome and TechnicAtome: Vanatome in June 2024 and the acquisition of Segault today. These acquisitions enable the creation of a dedicated valves product line within Framatome. Framatome’s valves portfolio is built on unique expertise in high-performance valves for nuclear, defense and energy applications.
