Framatome's nuclear fuel manufacturing facility in Richland, Washington, has achieved its 10th consecutive exemplary Licensee Performance Review (LPR) from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), extending a 20-year record with no areas identified as needing improvement.

“Our culture of safety and quality is the foundation of our manufacturing facilities”, said Tony Robinson, Framatome Inc. CEO. “The latest review with the NRC confirms our team's commitment to the highest industry standards and a level of excellence our customers can expect with our products and services. This accomplishment is a direct result of the contributions from our entire organization. We are committed to working with our regulatory partners, striving for excellence in safety, quality and regulatory compliance.”

The NRC's biennial review evaluates four major categories for fuel manufacturing: Safety Operations, Radiological Controls, Facility Support and Other Areas. This latest 2024-2025 review confirmed that the Richland facility continues to conduct activities safely and securely, while protecting public health and the environment.

This recognition supports the site's ongoing regulatory and operational initiatives. Positioned to deliver the next generation of light water reactor fuel as well as fuel for the next generation of reactors, the Richland facility continues to advance industry capabilities. Framatome recently received NRC approval for a license amendment supporting fabrication of fuel with increased uranium enrichments and to manufacture fuel with higher burnup limits.

Framatome's Richland facility has been a leader in nuclear fuel manufacturing for more than 55 years. More than 600 professionals work at the site and are committed to safety, innovation and unmatched regulatory excellence while delivering the most advanced nuclear fuel solutions.
