GREENYELLOW SUPPORTS CMC'S ENERGY TRANSITION WITH A SELF-CONSUMPTION SOLAR POWER PLANT IN ANDRYCHOW (POLAND)
GreenYellow, a global leader in decentralized energy transition, has signed an agreement with CMC Sp. z o.o., one of Europe’s leading wooden pallet manufacturers. As part of the collaboration, GreenYellow will design, finance, and build a 653 kWp rooftop photovoltaic installation at the production site in Andrychów, Poland, and will also ensure its maintenance and operation. Thanks to the implementation, the company will produce green, local electricity and significantly reduce its carbon footprint while reducing its electricity costs.
The annual electricity production is estimated at around 690 MWh, which will reduce the plant’s demand for primary energy, particularly in the energy-intensive wood drying processes. The generated energy will be used exclusively for CMC’s own needs, without being fed into the power grid.
Sustainable development in practice
The project is being carried out under the PV-as-a-Service model, in which GreenYellow Poland comprehensively manages every stage of the implementation – from needs assessment and energy audit, through design, financing and construction of the installation, to its commissioning, ongoing maintenance and 24/7 monitoring.
This project is a concrete expression of GreenYellow Poland’s strategy to accelerate the energy transition of commercial and industrial entities across the country.
"By supporting CMC in this investment, we want to demonstrate that the energy transition can be achieved without excessive complexity or negative impact on the company's balance sheet. The Andrychów plant is an example of a solution that combines state-of-the-art technology, a stable energy supply and measurable environmental benefits. Thanks to the PV-as-a-Service model, the company can focus on its core business, while we take care of the rest," says Ewa Klimont, General Manager of GreenYellow Poland.
CMC Sp. z o.o. does not incur any investment costs or equity – invoicing is carried out based on the actual production achieved. The commissioning of the facility is planned for 2026, with the possibility of expansion to other locations.
An experienced manufacturer with a vision
CMC Sp. z o.o. has been operating on the market for over 31 years and is one of the industry leaders in Poland and Europe. The Andrychów plant is one of the most modern in the country. The company holds numerous quality and compliance certificates with international standards, including EPAL, ISO 9001:2015, FSC, PEFC and ISPM 15 (IPPC). Thanks to its extensive drying infrastructure and flexible logistics, CMC supplies its products to key sectors such as the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
“For years, we have been investing in modern production technologies and environmentally friendly solutions. The photovoltaic project in Andrychów is another step towards greater energy independence and reducing CO₂ emissions. Cooperation with GreenYellow Poland allows us to put our sustainable development strategy into practice without having to commit our own investment funds,” emphasizes Andrzej Cinal, President of the Management Board of CMC Sp. z o.o.
Thanks to the investment, CMC Sp. z o.o. will increase the energy efficiency of its production and strengthen its position as a leader in the wood industry, consistently implementing solutions that limit the environmental impact of its operations. The photovoltaic installation is part of the company’s long-term strategy aimed at minimizing operating costs and achieving climate goals throughout the supply chain.
