GreenYellow, an international leader in decentralized energy transition, announces the commissioning in Colombia of a self-consumption solar plant for Cerámica Industrial del Meta (CIMET), a key player in the brick industry in the Llanos Orientales region. This project reflects GreenYellow’s commitment to decarbonizing industrial sites through an “Energy as a Service” model, offering high-performance energy solutions that are 100% financed and risk-free for the client, thereby enhancing industrial competitiveness.

Located in Acacías, the plant has an installed capacity of 1.45 MWp and will generate nearly 2.2 GWh of renewable electricity per year. This production will enable CIMET to cover around 30% of its facility’s electricity consumption while reducing its energy costs by approximately 18%.

Built on a 1.2-hectare site, the installation includes more than 2,200 650 W photovoltaic panels, four inverters, and a solar tracking system that automatically adjusts panel orientation to maximize energy production throughout the day.

Beyond the economic benefits, the project will prevent approximately 750 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, contributing to the company’s decarbonization targets.

“Climate phenomena such as El Niño are no longer a possibility but a reality that puts pressure on energy costs, grid stability, and operational continuity. In this context, companies must today ensure productivity, maintain production continuity, and control energy costs to remain competitive. They now face a choice between waiting or anticipating.
CIMET has chosen to anticipate in order to strengthen its resilience and growth capacity. At GreenYellow, we leverage our investments, technology, and international expertise to support Colombian industry by turning energy into a performance driver and enabling more efficient operations that are better prepared for future challenges,” said María del Pilar Yepes, Managing and Commercial Director of GreenYellow Colombia.

A partnership serving industrial competitiveness

A long-standing company in the Meta region, CIMET has been supporting the development of the construction and infrastructure sectors in Colombia for several decades. With this solar plant, the company strengthens its sustainable growth strategy by securing part of its energy supply through local renewable production.

“The Colombian industry, and particularly the brick sector, is expected to evolve toward more resilient, efficient, and sustainable models. This solar park represents an investment in both the present and future of our company, in the competitiveness of our operations, and in the region’s ability to continue growing. It also marks a concrete step toward our carbon neutrality goal, contributing to the gradual reduction of our environmental footprint.
We have found in GreenYellow a strategic partner with the experience, expertise, and vision required to deliver this project. It strengthens our operations today and allows us to face the challenges and opportunities ahead with greater confidence,” said Lucas Abad, Director of CIMET.

GreenYellow confirms its development in Colombia

Present in Colombia for seven years, GreenYellow continues to develop decarbonisation and electrification solutions under an Energy as a Service model, as well as solar self-generation, energy storage and distributed generation solutions to support companies in their energy transition.

The group currently totals 71 solar projects completed or under construction in the country, representing 57 MWp of installed self-generation capacity and nearly 200 MW of total photovoltaic installed capacity. The business unit also manages more than 570 energy efficiency contracts under EaaS or UaaS models.

ABOUT GREENYELLOW

GreenYellow, a French company founded in 2007, has become over 19 years a major player in decentralized energy transition in France and internationally, and a true partner for the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sectors as well as the public sector in their decarbonization journey and quest for energy independence.

An expert in energy efficiency programs and the electrification of uses, as well as in decentralized solar photovoltaic production and energy storage, GreenYellow supports companies across the entire value chain. The group ensures studies, design, financing, development, and operation of assets, enabling its clients to reduce their energy consumption, electrify their processes, and produce green, local, and competitive energy, while strengthening their overall competitiveness.

In 2025, the projects carried out by GreenYellow helped avoid the emission of almost 646,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent. The group also aims to achieve carbon neutrality (“Net Zero”) for scopes 1 and 2 by 2040.

Operating in some 15 countries across 4 continents, GreenYellow innovates by constantly enriching its unique and global platform of offers to support its 1,400 clients in their transition to a more sustainable energy model and meet the challenges of climate change. www.greenyellow.com/en
