At the Euronaval 2024 exhibition, Bernard Fontana, CEO of Framatome, and Loïc Rocard, CEO of TechnicAtome, signed a contract for the supply of the primary pumps for the nuclear boilers of the French new generation aircraft carrier (PA-NG), following a competitive bidding process.
The prototype for the technical qualification will be delivered in 2027, followed by the serial production of the pumps, with a view to commissioning of the PA-NG in 2038. This equipment, which is more powerful than previous generations, will be designed and manufactured on the Framatome site in Jeumont in Northern France. The Jeumont site is specialized in the production of mobile components for nuclear power plants and primary pumps for nuclear propulsion.
Loïc Rocard saluted “this cooperation with Framatome, a longstanding partner. We are delighted to collaborate on this major new project.”

The PA-NG program is jointly run by the French general armament directorate (DGA) and, for the nuclear boilers, by the military applications division (DAM) of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). Project management and construction are managed by a consortium between TechnicAtome, and a subsidiary of Naval Group and Chantiers de l'Atlantique dedicated to PA-NG.
