Already 20 years!

In April 2005, YouTube published its very first video: "Me at the zoo." 19 seconds filmed in front of elephants... Since then, 2.5 billion users have jumped on board.

Over two decades, videos shot in bedrooms have given way to blockbusters like "Kaizen," by Inoxtag.

YouTube is no longer just a video hosting site: the platform has established itself as a full audiovisual player, even competing with TV channels... without being subject to the same rules. This has annoyed quite a few.

In 20 years, the world—and YouTube—have changed a lot. This anniversary is an opportunity to try to anticipate what’s coming next.

Justine Ryst, general director of YouTube France and Southern Europe, is the guest on our podcast "Media On The Move". 20 minutes of interview to help you understand their challenges.

On the agenda:

🔵 Supporting the "creator economy"
🔵 New consumption habits
🔵 Competition from TikTok
🔵 Criticism regarding regulatory asymmetry
