“I’m at a reasonable age to take on such an unreasonable mission,” says the 60-year-old Deputy Editor-in-Chief of La Tribune Dimanche, who previously worked at Le Parisien, Le Figaro, Paris Match, and Le JDD. This week, he joins us as a guest on Media on the Move.
A general-interest spin-off of the business news site La Tribune, the Sunday paper hit newsstands on October 8, supported by a team of around twenty journalists. It was immediately seen as an alternative to Le Journal du Dimanche following the latter’s editorial shift.
Now backed by the media division of CMA CGM, owned by shipping magnate Rodolphe Saadé, La Tribune Dimanche has made no secret of its goal to win over disillusioned JDD readers, positioning itself as a “newspaper of nuance” and pluralism.
Four months and 18 issues later, how has the project fared? Have its goals been met? Bruno Jeudy shares the behind-the-scenes story of a launch full of twists and challenges.
