He’s streamed with Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Yannick Jadot, and Fabien Roussel.

Each week on his show Backseat, Jean Massiet and his panelists review the political news on Twitch.

Followed by more than 240,000 people on the platform, the content creator claims to be part of the “popular education” movement, and has set himself a goal: to simplify and analyze politics for his young audience, who are on average 24 years old. It's his way of engaging a generation that is increasingly turning away from public affairs and traditional media.

With the dissolution of the National Assembly, Jean Massiet has decided to increase his streaming schedule and get personally involved: the streamer, who previously worked in various political offices, recently signed an op-ed calling for a vote for the Nouveau Front Populaire in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections.

In this new episode of our podcast, he speaks with MediaConnect about:

  • the reasons behind the success of his show Backseat

  • his regret over appearing on Quelle époque (France 2)

  • his refusal to invite members of the Rassemblement National

  • the business model of his show
