TF1
This year, the annual report by Arcom on the representation of women on TV and radio highlighted a slight decline in 2023: their on-screen presence fell to 43% (-1 point) and their speaking time to 34% (-2 points). On this occasion, Christelle Chiroux, Deputy Director of News at TF1 and Executive Director of its Foundation, was the guest on our podcast The Media Is Moving. Responsible for mediation and CSR within the group, she leads the “Expertes à la Une” initiative, a support program aimed at increasing the presence of female experts in the media to ensure better representation. The 4th cohort was announced this year: 15 women, experts in various fields (geopolitics, environment, aerospace, etc.), will benefit from mentorship by journalists from the TF1 group, as well as coaching and media training workshops led by external firms.
ELLE
The revelations caused a shockwave: accusations of rape and sexual assault were made against psychoanalyst Gérard Miller in January. These testimonies, gathered and published by ELLE magazine, marked the beginning of a case that now includes several dozen allegations. The investigation, conducted by Cécile Ollivier and Alice Augustin, also reaffirmed the publication’s editorial mission: to deepen its focus on societal issues in a post-#MeToo world. This editorial line is now led by Ava Djamshidi, former senior reporter at Le Parisien and now editor-in-chief at ELLE, under the direction of Véronique Philipponnat, the magazine’s managing director and guest on our podcast. Emblematic and historic, the magazine launched in 1945 by Hélène Lazareff now claims nearly 10 million monthly readers across all platforms.
ViveS Media (Bayard)
"Women have only had the right to open a bank account, manage their property, and work without their husband's consent since 1965. To this day, 25% of women do not have a personal bank account." A historical reminder from Valérie Lion, editor-in-chief of ViveS Media, on the MediaConnect podcast. Launched in 2021 within the Bayard group, ViveS aims to reach as many women as possible as an "alert and solutions" media platform, raising awareness around economic and financial independence. For Valérie Lion, this is "the final building block" for full emancipation. To achieve this goal, ViveS Media was designed as a comprehensive outlet, creating accessible, engaging content that drives action.
