What do Anne-Sophie Lapix, David Pujadas, and Ruth Elkrief have in common?
They were all trained at the Centre de Formation des Journalistes (CFJ).
Ranked among the top journalism schools in France, CFJ, a prestigious institution founded in 1946 by journalist and resistance fighter Philippe Viannay, recruits about fifty students each year from several hundred applicants.
But how are these aspiring journalists trained today, in a profession challenged by disinformation, AI, distrust, and job insecurity?
Stéphanie Lebrun, director of CFJ and co-founder of the production company Babel Doc, answers all these questions. She is the guest of podcast episode #69—the last of the season!
Topics discussed include:
-
How students adapt to new technologies
-
Tools provided by the school to combat disinformation
-
CFJ’s effort to represent society better to reconnect the public and journalists
-
Limits set on student activism: the case of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
